We provide a wide range of sports at our school.
Coláiste Muire encourages all students, both boys and girls, to participate in the sports available at the school. We promote all sports, and every effort is made to facilitate as many teams as possible to participate in competitions.
Gaelic Football
Coláiste Muire competes in the Connacht League and Championship competitions every year for girls and boys.
We enter teams at several levels including 1st Year, 2nd Year, Junior & Senior.
Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta
Coláiste Muire organises ‘Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta’ for schools every year. Secondary schools from the Gaeltacht in Mayo and Galway take part in the competition. It has been a huge success since the launch in 2017, with great competition between all teams.
The Comórtas Peile competition is a celebration of the culture of the Gaeltacht – sport, music, dance and of course, the Irish language. It is a fantastic display of our heritage and our culture and we are very proud that it takes place in Tuar Mhic Éadaigh every year.
Athletics
Track and Field has always played an important role in the coláiste’s sporting calendar, with the cross-country season kicking off in January each year.
Athletes compete in the Regional round which leads on to Connacht and National Finals. Students also compete in the schools’ athletics finals, in many different disciplines.
