“Beatha agus Sláinte!”
Coláiste Muire is a Catholic Voluntary Secondary School under the trusteeship of Coláiste Thuar Mhic Éadaigh Teoranta and is a non-fee-paying, grant-aided, co-educational school. Our Gaeltacht school encourages the use of Gaeilge amongst our students and offers our students the opportunity to study subjects through the medium of Irish.
Coláiste Muire is run by a Board of Management which is comprised of Trustee nominees, Parent nominees and Teacher nominees. The school is supported in it’s work by both the Parents’ Council and the Students’ Council.
We cater for all students from a wide catchment area with school bus transport bringing students from all the local primary schools and also from Ballintubber, Ballyheane, Knockrooskey, Killawalla, Newport, Westport, Ballinrobe and Castlebar.
Coláiste Muire also provides an inclusive learning support programme for students with special educational needs. Coláiste Muire is operated on the basis of the fundamental Christian Principle, “treat others as we ourselves would like to be treated”. The school authorities and staff work hard to ensure a safe school environment for our school community.
In addition, we work to encourage the holistic development of our students in an atmosphere that enhances both school achievement and personal growth. We prepare students for state examinations and provide guidance to the students in a caring atmosphere that seeks to ensure that each student reaches his/her potential. We also encourage students participation in the Arts and Sport.
