The Learning Support Service in Coláiste Muire supports each student with specific learning difficulties and each student is encouraged to learn to the best of their ability.
This may involve one-to-one support, team teaching, in-class assistance or enhanced student support plans. Staff members have Special Educational Needs qualifications. Support may be in the form of words of encouragement, short-term small group sessions or long-term one-to-one tuition.
We believe early identification of First Years who would benefit from Learning Support is crucial. The role of the Learning Support Teacher is to help students make progress across the spectrum of their day-to-day lives, and to enjoy success at the achievement level that best suits their personal strengths and talents. Academic improvement is a stepped process, and each milestone of achievement is celebrated and evidenced in the Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement.
